Teleb — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 August 2026

Teleb collects nothing, stores nothing about you, and sends nothing anywhere.

1. The short version

This is not a policy decision that could be reversed in a future update without you noticing — it is a consequence of how the app works. Teleb moves files between two devices using only a screen and a camera. It has no server, no account system, and no networking code. There is no channel through which your data could reach us, because we operate nothing for it to reach.

2. What we collect

Nothing.

  • No account, sign-up, email address, or phone number
  • No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or usage statistics
  • No advertising identifiers, and no tracking of any kind
  • No third-party SDKs that collect data on their own behalf
  • No logs, because there is no server to hold them

The App Store listing declares Data Not Collected, and the app ships a privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) inside the bundle stating the same thing in machine-readable form.

3. Your files

The files you send never leave the two devices involved in the transfer.

They travel as light: one device displays a stream of codes and the other reads them with its camera. Before anything is displayed, the file is encrypted end to end using X25519 key agreement and XChaCha20-Poly1305, with keys that exist only on the two devices and only for that one transfer. Nobody standing nearby with a camera can read what is on the screen, and no copy of the file is kept anywhere but on the two devices.

Files you receive are saved to your device's own storage, under your control. You can delete them like any other file. We never see them.

4. Permissions the app asks for

Camera: Required. The camera is the receiver: reading the other device's screen is how the file arrives. It is used only while a transfer screen is open, and never records or stores video.

Photo library: Optional, only if you choose to send a photo or save a received one. Teleb reads only the item you pick and writes only what you agree to save.

Teleb requests no other permission. It does not ask for location, microphone, contacts, calendar, or anything else, and the app binary is built so that those permission handlers are not compiled into it.

5. How you can verify all of this

We would rather you checked than took our word for it.

  • On Android: the app ships with no network permission at all. Open the app's entry in system settings and see for yourself: the permission is not merely unused, it is absent, so the operating system would refuse a network connection even if the app attempted one
  • On iOS: there is no equivalent permission to withhold, so instead: turn on Airplane Mode and use Teleb exactly as normal. Everything works, because nothing it does needs a network

6. Children

Teleb is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, including children, and has no social features, messaging, or user-generated content.

7. Changes to this policy

If the app ever gains a capability that changes any statement here, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the release notes. Given the design of the app, we do not expect that to happen.
